AIM AND OBJECTIVES OF PONTIFICAL MISSION SOCIETIES
Promote Missionary Awareness
PMS aims to foster a missionary spirit among Catholics worldwide, encouraging them to understand and actively support the Church's mission to bring the Gospel to all nations.
Support Financially for Mission Territories
A key objective is to provide financial assistance to mission territories, particularly those with limited resources, to build churches, schools, hospitals, and other institutions that help spread the faith and meet local community needs.
Encourage Vocations
PMS supports the training and education of local clergy and religious, especially in regions with a shortage of priests and religious leaders, to ensure that these communities have adequate pastoral care and leadership.
Engage Children and Youth in Missionary Work
Through the Missionary Childhood Association, PMS teaches young people about the needs of children in different parts of the world, encouraging them to pray for and support each other through charitable contributions.
Provide Missionary Formation for Clergy and Religious
PMS works to educate and form clergy, religious, and lay leaders, preparing them for their roles in missionary work and equipping them with the skills needed to serve effectively in diverse cultural contexts.
Encourage Prayer for Missionary Efforts
PMS emphasizes the importance of prayer as a spiritual support for missionaries and mission territories, believing that prayer can help sustain and strengthen missionary activities.

ABOUT THE PONTIFICAL MISSION OF NIGERIA
The Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) of Nigeria are part of a global Catholic network established to promote missionary awareness, foster vocations, and support evangelization activities within and beyond Nigeria. Operating under the directives of the Vatican, PMS in Nigeria consists of four main branches: the Society for the Propagation of the Faith, the Missionary Childhood Association, the Society of St. Peter the Apostle, and the Missionary Union of Priests and Religious. The PMS in Nigeria encourages all Catholics to participate in missionary efforts through prayer, financial support, and missionary education. It also promotes the values of solidarity and global outreach, helping to spread the message of the Gospel and fund missionary work in underprivileged and underserved areas. Through their various programs, PMS seeks to inspire a missionary spirit among Nigerian Catholics, fostering the growth of the Church both locally and worldwide.
ABOUT CATHOLIC DIOCESE OF ENUGU
The Catholic Diocese of Enugu is a prominent ecclesiastical jurisdiction of the Catholic Church in Enugu State, Nigeria. Established in 1962, it was carved out of the Onitsha Archdiocese and is part of the Metropolitan Province of Onitsha. The diocese has grown significantly and serves as a center for Catholic worship, education, and community support, fostering various social, educational, and healthcare initiatives across the region.
