ABOUT THE PONTIFICAL MISSION OF NIGERIA:
The Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) of Nigeria are part of a global Catholic network established to promote missionary awareness, foster vocations, and support evangelization activities within and beyond Nigeria. Operating under the directives of the Vatican, PMS in Nigeria consists of four main branches: the Society for the Propagation of the Faith, the Missionary Childhood Association, the Society of St. Peter the Apostle, and the Missionary Union of Priests and Religious. The PMS in Nigeria encourages all Catholics to participate in missionary efforts through prayer, financial support, and missionary education. It also promotes the values of solidarity and global outreach, helping to spread the message of the Gospel and fund missionary work in underprivileged and underserved areas. Through their various programs, PMS seeks to inspire a missionary spirit among Nigerian Catholics, fostering the growth of the Church both locally and worldwide.

BRANCHES OF PONTIFICAL MISSION SOCIETIES (PMS) :
a) The Society for the Propagation of the Faith: This branch focuses on promoting missionary awareness and providing financial support for the Church's missions, especially in regions where resources are limited. It encourages Catholics to contribute to the global spread of the Gospel, ensuring that the faith reaches all nations. b) The Missionary Childhood Association: This society engages children in missionary activities, teaching them to pray for, support, and understand the needs of other children worldwide. It aims to develop a missionary spirit from a young age, fostering compassion, awareness, and involvement in the Church's global mission. c) The Society of St. Peter the Apostle: Dedicated to supporting seminarians and religious vocations in mission territories, this branch helps fund the training of priests and religious brothers and sisters. Through this, it addresses the Church’s need for local clergy and encourages indigenous vocations in underserved areas. d) The Missionary Union of Priests and Religious: This branch promotes missionary formation among clergy, religious, and lay leaders, aiming to deepen their commitment to the Church’s mission. By providing resources and programs, it helps clergy and religious understand and embrace their roles in spreading the Gospel and serving others.
Each branch of PMS works together to support the Church's mission, building a worldwide network of prayer, education, and financial support to aid missionary efforts across diverse regions and cultures.
